UFA/UMCG is the premier finance and consulting group on campus. Although we come from a diverse set of backgrounds, from Business Administration to Chemistry and Engineering, we share a common interest in finance and consulting. We strive to bridge the gap between students and industry, putting on some of the largest recruiting and informational events on campus, allowing students with an interest in finance and consulting to network and meet with top firms. For the past twenty years, we have attracted hundreds of students and more than 20 top tier firms to our each of our Annual Investment Banking, Consulting, and Finance Recruiting Forums. As the #1 public university in the world, it is easy to attract the firms, and the consistent quality of Berkeley students has kept the top firms in the world coming back each year. Much of the board has professional internship and part-time work experience in Investment Banking, Consulting, and Project Management, experience that directly helps the younger members of the board. The diversity and determined focus of our members allow all of our board members to continue on to successful professional careers. We stay in close contact with these alumni, who work in some of the most prestigious firms and graduate schools across the globe, as they often return to Berkeley for professional development, social, and recruiting events with UFA/UMCG. Most importantly, we are proud to be Bears, and are eager to continue providing the students of Berkeley with the chance to meet and learn about the world of finance from the best firms in the world. Go Bears! History In 1985, a group of students interested in finance organized a forum to disseminate information on the aspects of and career opportunities in investment banking, drawing participation from top firms from across the nation. Due to the success of and response to the investment banking forum, these students subsequently joined together to form the Undergraduate Finance Association. Three years later, another group of students interested in management consulting sponsored a management consulting forum that attracted consulting firms from across the nation as well, and they formed the Undergraduate Management Consultants Group. UFA and UMCG later merged to serve as the primary contact point for investment banks, management consulting firms, and investment management firms wishing to educate undergraduates about their respective companies. |
